Greatest Greek Warrior. Achilles was known as the strongest and most skilled fighter in the entire Greek army during the Trojan War. His name became famous for describing someone who is nearly invincible.
Son of a Goddess. His mother was Thetis, a sea goddess called a Nereid, and his father was Peleus, a king. This made Achilles half-divine and gave him amazing powers.
Trained by a Centaur. A wise centaur named Chiron, who was half-man and half-horse, taught young Achilles how to fight, heal wounds, and be brave. This made Achilles smarter and stronger than ordinary warriors.
Best Friend Patroclus. Achilles grew up with his childhood companion Patroclus, and they became inseparably close. The loss of Patroclus drove Achilles to become an even fiercer fighter in the war.
Leader of Myrmidons. Achilles commanded a legendary tribe of warriors called the Myrmidons, who were his most loyal and fearless soldiers in battle.
