Brilliant problem-solvers. Grey parrots can learn hundreds of words and understand what they mean, not just copy sounds. They can solve puzzles, recognize colors and shapes, and even understand the concept of numbers.

From Central Africa. These large grey birds with bright red tail feathers live in the rainforests of West and Central Africa. They love spending time in tall trees searching for fruit, seeds, and nuts.

Red tail feathers. Most of their body is soft grey, but their tail feathers are brilliant red, making them look striking as they fly through the forest. This splash of color helps them spot each other in the trees.

Super loyal friends. Grey parrots live a very long time (30 to 60 years in the wild) and form strong bonds with their family and partners. They stay together and care for each other throughout their lives.

In serious trouble. These amazing birds are endangered because people catch them illegally to sell as pets, and their rainforest home is shrinking. Many countries now protect them and work hard to keep populations alive.
