Thin metal sheets. Aluminium foil is made by flattening aluminium into sheets so thin you can almost see through them, yet they're still strong enough to protect food and keep heat in.

Easy to bend. Because it's so flexible and soft, you can wrap aluminium foil around anything, crumple it into a ball, or fold it to make shapes.

Super protective. The foil blocks light, air, and moisture from reaching food, which is why it keeps leftovers fresh and helps keep heat in a baked potato.

Made stronger. Sometimes thin foil gets glued to plastic or paper layers to make it tougher and more useful for different jobs, like insulation or reinforcing packages.

Industrial marvel. Factories can roll aluminium down to just 0.006 millimeters thick, which is about 25 times thinner than a human hair, yet still works perfectly for wrapping.
