Ancient stargazer favorite. Andromeda is one of the 48 constellations that the astronomer Ptolemy listed over 2,000 years ago, and it's still one of the 88 constellations we recognize today.

Named after a princess. The constellation is named after Andromeda, a princess in Greek mythology who was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to the sea monster Cetus until the hero Perseus saved her.

Best in autumn. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, Andromeda shines brightest during autumn evenings, appearing alongside other constellations featuring characters from the same famous Greek myth.

Seriously huge. Andromeda is one of the largest constellations in the night sky, covering an area over 1,400 times bigger than the full moon.

Northern hemisphere only. You can only see Andromeda if you're north of 40 degrees south latitude, which means people in the far southern parts of the world never get to see this constellation.
