Covers huge area. The Sonoran Desert stretches across 260,000 square kilometers (about 100,000 square miles) and spreads across northwestern Mexico and the southwestern United States.

Super hot place. This is a hot desert, which means it gets scorching temperatures, especially during the day, and it can stay blazing even when you'd think it should cool down.

Multiple countries. The desert sits in parts of the Mexican states of Sonora, Baja California, and Baja California Sur, plus sections of the American Southwest.

Tons of life. Despite being hot and dry, the Sonoran Desert is actually one of the most biologically diverse deserts in the world, full of unique plants and animals adapted to harsh conditions.
