The Black Sea

Located between continents. The Black Sea sits between Europe and Asia, touching six different countries including Romania, Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine. It's like a giant water meeting point between two parts of the world.

Fed by mighty rivers. The Danube, Dnieper, and Dniester Rivers are the main sources of water flowing into the Black Sea. These rivers carry water from across Europe, so the sea depends on rain and melting snow from lands far away.

Huge drainage basin. Even though only six countries border the Black Sea, water from parts of 24 different countries eventually flows into it. That means the Black Sea is connected to much of Europe through rivers and streams.

A marginal sea. The Black Sea is called a marginal sea because it's mostly surrounded by land, with water touching the continents of Europe and Asia. It connects to the Mediterranean Sea through narrow waterways.
