Trumpets of beauty. Calla lilies have an incredible funnel or trumpet shape that looks like someone rolled up a piece of paper into a flower. This unique shape makes them stand out from almost every other flower in the garden.

Several different flowers. The name 'calla lily' actually refers to several different types of flowers from the Araceae plant family, not just one. The most famous is the Zantedeschia aethiopica, which has stunning white flowers, but calla lilies also come in pink, purple, yellow, and even black.

Underground powerhouse. Calla lilies grow from something called a rhizome, which is like an underground stem or bulb that stores energy. This special root system helps the plant survive and come back year after year.

Fancy flower choice. People love using calla lilies in fancy bouquets and wedding arrangements because they look so elegant and dramatic. Their smooth, clean lines and rich colors make any room feel special.

Swamp loving plant. One type of calla lily, called Calla palustris, grows naturally in wet swamps and marshy areas in cooler parts of the world. It actually likes having wet feet, which is different from many other flowers.
