Bug trappers. Carnivorous plants catch and digest insects and small animals to get nutrients like nitrogen that their sandy or boggy soil doesn't provide.

Found everywhere. You can find carnivorous plants on every continent except Antarctica, and even on some remote Pacific islands where they've adapted to harsh conditions.

Love wet places. These plants grow best in waterlogged, sunny areas like acidic bogs and wetlands where regular plants can't survive.

Darwin studied them. In 1875, the famous scientist Charles Darwin wrote a whole book called Insectivorous Plants after years of research proving that plants could actually eat animals.

Quick reflexes. Some carnivorous plants snap shut in fractions of a second to trap prey, using energy and movement like animals do.
