Impossibly Tall. Coast redwoods are the tallest living trees on Earth, reaching over 380 feet high. That is taller than the Statue of Liberty and as tall as a 38-story building.

Incredibly Ancient. These trees can live 1,200 to 2,200 years or even longer. Some redwoods alive today were seedlings when the Roman Empire was still standing.

Forever Green. Coast redwoods are evergreens, meaning they keep their leaves all year long, even in winter. They never go bare or lose their needles like some other trees do.

Rare and Precious. These massive trees now grow naturally only along the coast of California and a tiny corner of Oregon. Before people started logging them in the 1850s, they covered an area as big as 2 million acres.

Protected Giants. Because coast redwoods are so special and increasingly rare, many of the largest ones are protected in state and national parks. Some of the biggest trees even have their own official names to honor them.
