Native to Australia. Cockatiels come from the grasslands and woodlands of Australia, where they live in big flocks that can number in the thousands.

Fancy head crest. Cockatiels have a pointy crown of feathers on their heads that they raise up when they are excited, scared, or greeting their friends.

Whistling superstars. These birds are incredible whistlers and can learn to mimic songs and whistles that people teach them, making them one of the most musical pet birds.

Smallest cockatoo. Even though they look similar to their bigger cousins, cockatiels are the tiniest members of the cockatoo family and belong to their own special group.
