Making people laugh. Comedians use jokes, funny observations, and silly situations to entertain audiences and make them laugh. It's their job to figure out what people find funny and share that joy with everyone watching or listening.

Many styles of humor. Comedians can be silly in lots of different ways. Some use puns and wordplay, others make fun of themselves, some tell stories about everyday life, and some perform completely absurd and unexpected things to surprise people into laughing.

Stand-up performers. Many comedians perform on stage with just a microphone, telling jokes and funny stories to a live audience. Other comedians appear in movies, TV shows, or online videos where people can watch them perform.

Finding the funny. Comedians spend lots of time thinking about what makes situations funny. They observe people, think about confusing parts of life, and come up with ways to point out things that are both true and hilarious.

Different for everyone. What makes one person laugh might not make another person laugh, so comedians develop their own special style. Some are goofy, some are clever with wordplay, and some tell stories from their own lives that happen to be really funny.
