Sprays hot water. Dishwashers clean dishes by spraying hot water between 45 and 75 degrees Celsius (that's about 113 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit) at high pressure, which blasts away food and grease without any scrubbing needed.

Temperature matters. Delicate items like fancy glasses or fragile plates get washed with cooler water so they don't crack or break from the heat.
