Horn like an elephant. Male elephant beetles have a long, curved horn on their head that looks like a tiny elephant's trunk. They use this horn to fight other males and show off their strength.

Built like armor. Elephant beetles are part of the scarab beetle family, which means they have super hard, shiny shells that protect their bodies. These shells can be shiny black, green, or even metallic colors.

Rainforest dwellers. These beetles live in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, where it's warm and humid all year. They hide in trees and under bark, munching on leaves and bark to grow big and strong.

Surprisingly strong. Despite being bugs, elephant beetles are incredibly powerful insects. The males use their horns and strength to wrestle with other males in competitions for territory and mates.

Rhinoceros beetles family. Elephant beetles belong to the rhinoceros beetle subfamily, which are some of the largest and strongest beetles on Earth. Other beetles in this group also have impressive horns and massive bodies.
