Tiny but mighty. Estonia is a small country in Northern Europe, squeezed between Finland to the north, Russia to the east, and Latvia to the south. Despite its size, it's a full member of the European Union.

Island wonderland. Estonia isn't just one piece of land, it has over 2,300 islands and islets scattered along the Baltic Sea coast. The two biggest islands are called Saaremaa and Hiiumaa.

A language all its own. Estonians speak Estonian, which is totally different from most European languages. It's actually part of the Finnic family, making it more similar to Finnish than to Russian or Latvian.

Two cool cities. The capital city is Tallinn, which sits right across the sea from Finland and has a beautiful medieval old town. Tartu is Estonia's second biggest city and is known as the country's cultural heart.

Nearly 1.4 million people. Estonia has about 1.4 million people living there, which makes it one of the smallest countries in the European Union by population.
