Official Currency. The euro is the official money used by 21 of the 27 countries in the European Union. These countries together are called the eurozone.
Easy to Divide. One euro can be split into 100 smaller pieces called euro cents, just like how one dollar can be split into 100 pennies.
Shared Money. Before the euro, each European country had its own currency, like the French franc or German mark. Using the same money helps these countries trade with each other more easily.
