Forest acrobat. Pine martens are incredible climbers with sharp claws and flexible spines that let them leap between trees and even jump backwards down tree trunks headfirst.

Honey thief. These furry bandits love raiding beehives for honey and bee larvae, and their thick fur protects them from stings when they're sneaking their sweet treat.

Golden chest badge. You can spot a pine marten by its creamy yellow or golden patch on its chest and throat, which makes it stand out from its dark brown fur.

Clever hunter. Pine martens hunt small mammals, birds, insects, and berries, adapting their menu depending on what's available in each season.

Widespread survivor. These mustelids live across most of Europe and into parts of Asia, and they're doing just fine, which is why they're listed as Least Concern by wildlife experts.
