Burning wooden sculptures. The heart of Fallas is building tall, colorful wooden monuments called Fallas and then setting them on fire on the final night. These sculptures can be huge, funny, and packed with clever ideas about things happening in the world.

Daily firecracker shows. Every single day from March 1 to 19, there's a Mascletà, which is basically a giant explosion of firecrackers in the town square. It's so loud and intense that people say you can feel it rumbling through your whole body.

Party dates. The main five days of celebration happen from March 15 to 19 each year, making Fallas the official spring festival of Valencia. People call it the patronal festival because it honors the town's special traditions and history.

World heritage treasure. In 2016, UNESCO recognized Fallas as a precious part of human culture by adding it to their intangible cultural heritage list. This means the world agrees it's a special tradition worth protecting and celebrating.

Inspiring other towns. The success of Fallas inspired other cities in the Valencian region to create their own similar festivals, like the Bonfires of Saint John in Alicante. Each one has its own unique twist while keeping the spirit of fire and celebration alive.
