Cool Facts
Growing food. Farmers plant and care for crops like wheat, corn, vegetables, and fruit trees. They spend months watching their plants grow, watering them, and protecting them from pests and bad weather.
Raising animals. Many farmers raise livestock such as cows, chickens, pigs, or sheep for meat, milk, eggs, and wool. These animals need daily feeding, shelter, and care to stay healthy.
Owning or working land. Some farmers own their own land and make all the decisions, while other farmers work on land owned by someone else as farm workers. Either way, farmers are the backbone of feeding our communities.
Hard outdoor work. Farming is demanding physical work that happens in all kinds of weather. Farmers start early in the morning and work late, using tools and machines to plant, harvest, and care for everything on the farm.
Different everywhere. Farmers grow different things depending on where they live and what the climate allows. A farmer in California might grow oranges, while a farmer in Iowa grows corn, and a farmer in Scotland raises sheep.
