Born in Andalusia. Flamenco developed in southern Spain, particularly in the Andalusia region. It grew from many different folk music traditions that people there had been playing for centuries.

Dance and music together. Flamenco isn't just music or just dancing, it's both combined into one dramatic performance. Dancers stomp their feet, snap their fingers, and move their bodies to tell stories of joy, love, and sadness.

From gitano culture. The gitano people, who are of Romani heritage, played a huge role in creating and developing flamenco. However, flamenco became so important to Andalusia that artists from many backgrounds have contributed to it.
