Zoom in forever. Fractals are special shapes where you can keep zooming in closer and closer, and you'll keep seeing the same pattern repeating over and over. It's like the shape is made of tinier versions of itself, all the way down.

Self-similar magic. The coolest thing about fractals is that they look almost identical at different sizes. If you zoom in on a tiny piece, it looks just like the whole shape. This is called self-similarity, and it's found all over nature too, like in ferns and coastlines.

The Mandelbrot set. The Mandelbrot set is one of the most famous fractals ever discovered. When you zoom into its edges, you find swirling patterns and little copies of the whole set hiding inside, creating an endless beautiful structure.

Sponge with holes. The Menger sponge is a fractal that looks like a cube with square holes poked through it. If you kept cutting holes in those holes forever, you'd have a sponge that's completely hollow but still has infinite surface area to explore.

Strange dimensions. Fractals are weird because they don't have normal dimensions. A regular line has dimension 1, a square has dimension 2, but some fractals have dimensions like 1.26 or 2.58, which sounds impossible but is totally real in mathematics.
