Dangling jewel-like flowers. Fuchsia flowers hang down from branches like delicate ornaments, with bright outer petals and contrasting inner petals that look like they're wearing two different colored dresses.

Named after a botanist. The plant is named after Leonhart Fuchs, a German botanist from the 1500s who studied and illustrated many plants.

Native to Mexico. Most fuchsia species come from Central and South America, especially Mexico, where they grow naturally in forests and mountains.

Shrubs and small trees. Fuchsias are mostly growing as bushy shrubs or small trees, not as climbing vines or tiny ground covers like some other flowering plants.
