Cool Facts
Earth is the mirror.. A full moon happens when Earth lines up between the Sun and the Moon, so sunlight bounces off the Moon's face and reflects straight back to us, making it look totally bright and round.
Monthly visitor.. The full moon occurs roughly once a month, about every 29.5 days, which is called a lunar month or lunation.
Completely sunlit.. During a full moon, the entire hemisphere of the Moon that faces Earth is lit up by the Sun, so we see an approximately circular disk of light in the night sky.
