Impressive arch monument. The Gateway of India is a large, beautiful arch made of stone that stands on the waterfront in Mumbai. It was finished building in 1924 and is one of the most famous landmarks in India today.

Royal visit memory. The gateway was built to remember when King George V, the king of Britain, came to India in December 1911. This was super special because he was the very first British king to ever visit India.

Waterfront location. The Gateway of India sits right on the coast where the Arabian Sea meets Mumbai. Ships and boats sail past this magnificent monument every day.
