Free stargazing spot. Griffith Observatory opened in 1935 and has always been free to visit, thanks to a wish made by the person who donated the money to build it. That's almost 90 years of free astronomy for everyone!

Overlooks the whole city. Perched on Mount Hollywood, the observatory looks out over Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and even the Pacific Ocean. On clear nights, visitors get incredible views of the sprawling city below.

Space and science displays. Inside, there are tons of exhibits about space, planets, and how the universe works. You can learn about stars, galaxies, and cosmic mysteries while exploring interactive displays.

Hollywood Sign neighbor. The observatory sits near the famous Hollywood Sign, making it one of Los Angeles's coolest sightseeing spots. You get both amazing science and iconic movie history in one place.

Named after a generous donor. Griffith J. Griffith donated the money and land for this observatory because he wanted regular people to learn about space and science. His generosity created a treasure for Los Angeles.
