Rainbow fins everywhere. Male guppies are covered in bright, ornamental fins that come in stunning colors and patterns. Females are bigger and plainer, but the males are like living underwater rainbows.

Babies not eggs. Guppies are livebearers, which means they don't lay eggs like most fish do. Instead, mama guppies give birth to fully formed baby guppies called fry.

Algae and tiny snacks. In the wild, guppies eat algae that grows on rocks and the larvae of aquatic insects. They're not picky eaters and will munch on whatever small food they find.

Boys stay small. Male guppies are noticeably smaller than females, which makes their fancy fins look even more impressive compared to their tiny bodies.

Nicknamed the millionfish. Guppies got the nickname 'millionfish' because they reproduce so quickly and in such huge numbers that people kept saying there were a million of them.
