A super-strong monkey. Hanuman is a divine monkey character, also called a vanara, who is known for his amazing strength, courage, and loyalty. He's one of the most beloved figures in Hindu stories.
Devoted to Rama. Hanuman's most famous trait is his complete and unwavering devotion to Lord Rama, a great hero in the epic Ramayana. He would do anything to help Rama, no matter how difficult or dangerous.
Son of the wind god. According to Hindu tradition, Hanuman is believed to be the spiritual child of Vayu, the celestial wind god. This divine parentage explains his supernatural powers and abilities.
Star of ancient epics. Hanuman's amazing adventures are told not only in the Ramayana but also in other ancient Hindu texts like the Mahabharata and various Puranas, making him one of the most famous characters across many stories.
Worship grew later. While Hanuman appears in very ancient texts, people didn't begin worshipping him as widely until about 1,000 years after the Ramayana was first written, during the second millennium CE.
