Huntsman Spider

Active hunters. Unlike many spiders that sit in webs waiting for food, huntsman spiders actively stalk and chase down their prey. They rely on their speed and agility to catch insects and small creatures.

Giant crab spiders. Huntsman spiders get the nickname "giant crab spiders" because of their impressive size and the way their legs spread out sideways, making them look a bit like crabs.

Wood lovers. Larger huntsman spiders are sometimes called wood spiders because they prefer to live in woody places like forests, tree bark, and wooden structures.

Rain spiders too. In southern Africa, certain huntsman spiders are known as rain spiders or lizard-eating spiders, and people often notice them more when it rains.

Not baboon spiders. Even though huntsman spiders are sometimes confused with baboon spiders, they are not closely related at all. Baboon spiders belong to a completely different spider family.
