Massive ancient empire. The Indus Valley Civilisation covered more land than ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia combined, stretching across what is now Pakistan, northwestern India, and northeast Afghanistan.

Really, really old. This civilization started around 3300 BCE and lasted until 1300 BCE, making it one of the three earliest advanced civilizations in the world.

River-powered cities. The civilization grew strong in the flat plains along the Indus River and other rivers that were fed by monsoon rains, giving them water and rich soil for farming.

Planned settlements. People built organized cities and towns, showing they had figured out how to plan communities and manage resources on a massive scale.
