Spoken in the Far North. Inuktitut is one of the main languages of the Inuit people in Canada. People speak it in all the areas north of the tree line, which is the imaginary boundary where it gets too cold for trees to grow.

Found across the Arctic. You can hear Inuktitut spoken in parts of Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, northeastern Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. That covers a massive stretch of Canada's frozen northern landscape.

Special Syllabic Writing. Inuktitut uses Canadian Aboriginal syllabics, which is a beautiful alphabet made of special symbols. Unlike English letters, these symbols represent whole syllables instead of single sounds.

Indigenous Language Treasure. Inuktitut is one of Canada's aboriginal languages, meaning it belongs to the First Nations of the land. It carries the history, stories, and culture of Inuit communities who have lived in the Arctic for thousands of years.
