Kennedy Space Center

America's Launch Hub. Kennedy Space Center, located on Merritt Island in Florida, has been NASA's primary launch center since 1968. This is where most American astronauts and spacecraft begin their journeys to space.

Historic Mission Site. The Apollo moon missions, the Space Shuttle program, and the newest Artemis missions all launched from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39. This single location has sent people to the moon and to orbit around Earth.

Partners Next Door. Kennedy Space Center sits right next to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Florida's east coast. The two facilities work closely together, share equipment, and even use each other's land to launch rockets.

One of Ten Centers. Kennedy Space Center is one of NASA's ten major field centers around the United States. Each center has its own special job, but KSC handles the most important work: getting people and spacecraft into space.
