Home to Komodo dragons. Komodo National Park was created in 1980 specifically to protect Komodo dragons, which are the world's largest living lizards. These incredible reptiles can grow up to 10 feet long and are found nowhere else on Earth.

Made of many islands. The park consists of three large islands called Komodo, Padar, and Rinca, plus 26 smaller islands spread across 1,733 square kilometers. It's located in Indonesia within the Lesser Sunda Islands.

A UNESCO treasure. In 1991, Komodo National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because it's so special and important. It's one of only 25 biodiversity hotspots in the entire world.

Land and sea life. The park protects way more than just dragons. It also safeguards amazing marine species and ecosystems both on the islands and in the surrounding ocean waters.
