Leapfrog

Named after frogs. The game gets its name because players hop over each other just like frogs leap through the air. It's been played by kids for hundreds of years.

Vaulting over backs. Players bend down in a line and then one person at a time runs up and jumps over everyone's backs, landing safely ahead. It takes strength, balance, and courage.

A speedy strategy game. Once someone jumps to the front of the line, the person now at the back has to run and vault over everyone else. The game keeps going until everyone gets tired or bored.

Builds real skills. Leapfrog helps kids develop jumping power, hand-eye coordination, and confidence in their bodies. It's also just plain fun and gets everyone laughing.

Used as a metaphor. Today the word 'leapfrog' also means to jump ahead of others, like when a company leapfrogs over its competitors by inventing something totally new.
