Masters of disguise. Lithops plants look almost exactly like the pebbles and stones around them in the South African desert. This clever disguise tricks herbivores into thinking they're just ordinary rocks, not a tasty snack.

Come from Africa. These amazing plants are native to southern Africa, where they grew in harsh, rocky desert environments. They adapted over millions of years to blend in perfectly with their stony surroundings.

Sip tiny amounts. Lithops are succulents, meaning they store water in their leaves to survive long periods without rain. They need very little water compared to most other plants, making them perfect for dry deserts.

Surprise spring blooms. Despite looking like stones, lithops produce beautiful yellow or white flowers that pop right out of the top. These lovely blooms help the plant make seeds and spread to new areas.
