Pancake Paradise. Maslenitsa is all about eating delicious pancakes called blini. During this special week, people make and share tons of pancakes with butter, sour cream, and jam, which is why it's also called Butter Week.

Festival of Fun. This holiday involves parades, costumes, games, and performances in the streets. People wear masks and bright clothes while dancing, singing, and celebrating the arrival of spring.

Lent Countdown. Maslenitsa happens during the week right before Great Lent, a time when many Orthodox Christians give up certain foods. The holiday is their last chance to eat butter, cheese, and pancakes before the fasting season begins.

Ancient Traditions. This celebration mixes old Slavic traditions with Orthodox Christianity. Families gather together, and in some places people even burn straw figures to symbolize saying goodbye to winter.

Community Celebration. Maslenitsa brings whole towns together with street festivals, music, and games for everyone. It's a time when people visit each other's homes to share pancakes and enjoy being with family and friends.
