Zoom to the sky. Model rockets are small rockets you build yourself that launch hundreds of feet into the air using engines fueled by solid propellant. They're designed to fly safely and reach low altitudes, not to go into actual space.

Soft landing home. After a model rocket reaches its peak height, parachutes or streamers automatically open to slow it down so it floats gently back to Earth. This makes it safe to recover and launch again.

You build it. Many model rockets come as kits where you assemble the pieces yourself, learning about rockets, aerodynamics, and engineering in the process. It's like a hands-on science project that actually flies.

Fuel that works. Model rockets use special solid rocket engines that you can buy from hobby shops. These engines provide the controlled thrust needed to launch your rocket without being dangerous.

Reach and recover. The whole point of model rocketry is to launch your creation high into the air and then safely bring it back down in one piece so you can fly it again and again.
