Giant Flat Top. Mount Roraima is a tepui, which means it has an enormous flat plateau on top surrounded by incredibly steep cliffs that rise 400 to 1,000 meters high, like a fortress made of rock.

Three Countries Meet. This mountain sits right at the point where Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela all touch, making it one of the world's most interesting natural borders.

Nearly 10,000 Feet Tall. Its highest point reaches 2,810 meters (9,220 feet) above sea level, which is roughly the height where it gets very cold and clouds swirl around the peak.

Named by the Pemon. The native Pemon people who lived in the area gave it the name Roraima, where 'roroi' means 'blue-green' and 'ma' means 'great,' describing the mountain's misty blue appearance.

Hard to Reach. Because of its vertical cliffs, climbing Mount Roraima is extremely challenging and requires serious mountaineering skills and planning.
