Africa's major hub. Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya, located in the south-central part of the country. It's one of the most important cities on the entire African continent.
Millions call it home. As of 2026, Nairobi has a population of 5.6 million people living in the city itself, with 15.95 million in the greater metropolitan area. That makes it the 8th most populous city in Africa overall.
Growing outward fast. Nairobi has expanded so much that it now stretches into neighboring counties, growing beyond its original borders. This expansion makes it the 4th largest metropolitan area in all of Africa.
East African center. The city's location in south-central Kenya makes it a natural gathering place for businesses, culture, and people from across East Africa and beyond.
