Born from Explosions. Neutron stars form when a massive star explodes as a supernova and its core gets crushed by gravity so hard that it becomes incredibly tiny and dense.

Tiny But Mighty. A neutron star is only about 10 kilometers across, about the size of a city, but it contains as much matter as our entire Sun!

Unimaginably Dense. A teaspoon of neutron star material would weigh as much as a whole mountain on Earth, making it one of the densest things in the universe.

Second Only to Black Holes. Neutron stars are the second-densest objects we know of in space, beaten only by black holes, which are even more extreme.
