Five boroughs combined. New York City is made up of five separate neighborhoods called boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Each one has its own personality and feel.

Built on a harbor. The city sits at the southern tip of New York State right on New York Harbor, which is one of the world's biggest and most natural harbors. This amazing location helped the city grow into a superpower.

Money and business hub. New York City is the center of finance and commerce for the whole world, meaning banks, businesses, and traders from everywhere come here to make deals and manage money.

Culture and creativity. The city is famous for art, fashion, entertainment, music, theater, and media. Some of the world's most talented artists and performers live and work there.

Home to the UN. The headquarters of the United Nations is in New York City, so leaders and diplomats from countries all over the world meet there to discuss global issues.
