Marsupial from Australia. Numbats are marsupials, which means their babies develop in a pouch, just like kangaroos and koalas. They live in the forests and woodlands of Australia.

Termite specialist. Numbats eat almost nothing but termites, using their long sticky tongue to slurp them up from inside logs and mounds. A single numbat can eat tens of thousands of termites in a single day.

Daytime explorer. Unlike most other marsupials that hunt at night, numbats are diurnal, which means they're active during the day. This makes them pretty unusual in the marsupial world.

Super long tongue. Numbats have an incredibly long tongue that can be almost as long as their body. This special tongue is perfect for reaching deep into termite nests to catch their favorite food.
