Cowrie shell dice. Instead of regular dice, players threw six or seven cowrie shells and counted how many landed with the opening facing up to move their pieces. It was like using nature's own dice.

Cross-shaped board. The game board had a symmetrical cross shape with paths for pieces to travel around. The design was simple but perfect for strategic gameplay.

Ancient Indian game. Pachisi appeared in the Mahabharata, one of the world's oldest and longest poems, showing it was played thousands of years ago in India. It's one of the oldest board games we know about.

Race to victory. Players moved their pieces around the board, trying to be the first to get all their pieces to the center or finish line. The throw of shells added luck to the strategy.
