Two-legged plant-eater. Qantassaurus was an ornithischian dinosaur, which means it ate plants and walked on two powerful hind legs, like many other dinosaurs from its family.
Frozen continent. This dinosaur lived about 125 to 112 million years ago in Australia, when part of the continent was still near or below the Antarctic Circle, making it much colder than Australia is today.
Found near Inverloch. Scientists discovered Qantassaurus fossils near the town of Inverloch in Victoria, Australia, giving us clues about what dinosaurs lived in that ancient southern part of the world.
Named after Qantas. When scientists Patricia and Tom Rich described this dinosaur in 1999, they named it after Qantas, Australia's famous airline, to honor the country where it was discovered.
