Desert landscape. Most of Qatar is flat, sandy desert with very little rain. The entire country is quite small, but it's packed into the Arabian Peninsula sticking out into the Persian Gulf.
Water all around. Qatar is almost completely surrounded by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Bahrain. Only one land border connects it to Saudi Arabia in the south, making it almost like an island.
Doha dominates. The capital city Doha is home to more than 80% of all people living in Qatar. This one city is so important that most Qataris live there, making it the heart of the entire country.
West Asian location. Qatar sits on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East. Its location on the Persian Gulf has made it an important place for trade and business throughout history.
