Fighting Air Lift. Just like airplane wings, fast-moving cars can get pushed upward by air, which is actually bad for grip and control. Spoilers interrupt this upward air movement and press the car down onto the road instead, like an invisible hand keeping it firmly planted.
Shaping Airflow. As a car zooms down the road, air swirls and turbulates around its body, creating drag that slows it down. Spoilers guide this messy air more smoothly, reducing turbulence and making the car more aerodynamic.
Front Air Dams. The spoilers on a car's front, called air dams, sit low under the bumper and stop air from flowing underneath the vehicle. This keeps more air moving smoothly over the top, helping the car slice through the air more efficiently.
Racing Essential. Race cars have much bigger and more dramatic spoilers than regular cars because they go incredibly fast and need extra help staying planted to the track. Without spoilers, speedy race cars would bounce and lift off dangerous.
