Starting from something old. A remix begins with a song, picture, poem, or any creative work that already exists. The remixer then adds, removes, or changes pieces of it to create something different.

Changing it up creatively. Instead of creating from scratch, a remixer is like a chef taking ingredients from an existing recipe and rearranging them to make a totally new dish. Maybe they speed up a song, add new sounds, or completely change how a picture looks.

Making it your own. The key thing that makes a remix a remix is that it takes someone else's work and transforms it into something new. It's not just copying, it's creating something original by building on what came before.

Everywhere you look. Remixes aren't just for songs. Artists remix paintings, writers remix poems and books, and photographers remix images. Any creative work can be remixed if someone changes it in an interesting way.
