Cool Facts
Operates from distance. Remote controls use wireless signals to tell devices like TVs and DVD players what to do without you having to walk over and touch them directly.
Sends invisible signals. Most remote controls send out infrared light that you can't see with your eyes, and the device receives the signal and follows your command.
Reaches impossible places. Some remotes let you control things you couldn't reach any other way, like opening a garage door from inside your car or changing the temperature from across a big room.
Works best up close. Remote controls work great when you're sitting nearby, but they don't work well from really far away because the wireless signal gets weaker the farther it travels.
