Built-in armor. Saichania had thick, bony plates covering its entire body like chainmail, protecting it from predators and keeping it safe during fights with other dinosaurs.
Rock-hard tail club. This dinosaur had a heavy club at the end of its tail that it could swing to defend itself against attackers.
Plant-eating dino. Saichania was herbivorous, meaning it spent its days munching on plants, ferns, and low shrubs during the Late Cretaceous period.
Desert discovery. Scientists found the first fossils of Saichania in the 1970s in Mongolia's Baruungoyot Formation, a place that was hot and dry millions of years ago.
Solid and stocky. This dinosaur was built low to the ground with short, sturdy legs, perfect for supporting all that heavy armor plating.
