Enormous megacity. Seoul is the capital and largest city of South Korea, and it's home to about 9.6 million people living right in the city itself, with millions more in the surrounding area.
Economic powerhouse. The Seoul area is the sixth largest city economy in the whole world, behind only New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Paris, and London.
Half the country lives here. More than half of all South Koreans choose to live in Seoul and the cities and towns around it, making it the center of everything.
Changing population. Even though Seoul was packed with over 10 million people at its busiest, the number of residents has slowly been going down since 2014.
