Mountain borders. Sichuan is surrounded by some of the most dramatic geography in China, with the Jinsha River marking its western edge and the Daba Mountains protecting it to the north.

Giant city center. The capital city Chengdu is home to millions of people and sits right in the heart of Sichuan, making it one of China's major cities.

Huge population. With 83 million people living in Sichuan, the province has more inhabitants than most countries in the world.

Central location. Sichuan touches five neighboring regions including Tibet, Yunnan, and Chongqing, making it a crossroads between southwestern and central China.

Two different landscapes. The province spans both the flatter Sichuan Basin and the high Tibetan Plateau, giving it remarkably different terrain across its territory.
