Born in Norway. Ski jumping started in Norway in the late 1800s and became so popular that it spread across Europe and North America in the early 1900s.

Part of Nordic skiing. Ski jumping is one of the traditional Nordic skiing sports, grouped together with cross-country skiing as classic winter disciplines.
